The treatment

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable products placed beneath the skin to add volume, refine selected features or soften the appearance of certain lines. This page focuses on hyaluronic acid fillers.

They are potentially reversible: where clinically appropriate, an enzyme can be used to dissolve hyaluronic acid filler. Dissolving is a separate medical procedure and may require more than one session.

Results and duration vary by product, area and individual. Filler does not tighten substantially loose skin or permanently remove wrinkles.

01 / Facial areas

Where can filler be considered?

These are the areas you can discuss. Placement and suitability are decided after an individual assessment.

Shape & volume

Lips, cheeks, temples

Discuss lip shape and definition, mid-face fullness or temple hollowing. The aim and amount are tailored to facial balance.

Profile & contour

Nose, chin, jawline

Selected changes to the profile or contour may be considered. Nose filler (non-surgical rhinoplasty) is a higher-risk procedure and needs particularly careful assessment and risk discussion.

Lines & folds

Beside the nose and mouth

Filler may soften the appearance of selected lines or folds. We assess whether volume loss elsewhere is contributing.

Delicate area

Under-eyes

Only suitable patients are considered. Puffiness, prominent bags or skin laxity may call for a different approach.

02 / Consultation

Plan the right change for you

Dr Yash reviews your medical history and previous filler, listens to your goals and assesses your face at rest and in movement.

03 / Treatment & recovery

What will the appointment involve?

The procedure and recovery depend on the area and product. Dr Yash explains the plan before treatment and gives written aftercare.

During treatment

Comfort

Injections can feel like brief pressure or stinging. Comfort measures are discussed for the area being treated.

After treatment

Settling time

Swelling, tenderness or bruising can occur. Lips in particular can look more swollen before settling. Plan around important events.

Your plan

Review and further sessions

Some people have one appointment and a later review; others benefit from a gradual plan. Results and duration vary.

Safety

When to contact us

Helpful answers

Dermal filler FAQs

Will treatment hurt?

You may feel brief stinging or pressure. Dr Yash will explain the technique and comfort measures for the area being treated.

How much downtime should I plan for?

Many people return to normal activities, but swelling, tenderness and bruising are possible. Lips may be noticeably swollen at first, so leave time before an important event.

When will I see the final result?

You may see a change immediately, but the area can look different while swelling settles. A review is more useful after the initial recovery.

How long does filler last?

It varies with the product, treatment area and individual. Dr Yash will discuss likely duration for your proposed plan; results are not permanent.

Can hyaluronic acid filler be dissolved?

Usually, if clinically appropriate. Dissolving is a separate procedure and may take more than one session. It should not be seen as a substitute for careful initial treatment.

What if I have had filler before?

Tell us which product was used, where and when, if you know. Previous filler can affect the assessment and may change the recommended plan.

What symptoms need urgent attention?

Unusual severe pain, a pale or mottled change in skin colour, or any visual symptom after filler needs urgent medical assessment. We provide clear contact and aftercare instructions.
