The treatment

What is microneedling?

Microneedling uses fine needles to create controlled microscopic channels in the skin. This stimulates a repair response and collagen remodelling, which can gradually improve texture and soften the appearance of fine lines and selected scars.

We use the Raffine microneedling device supplied by 4T Medical, with sterile, single-use needle cartridges. Needle depth and treatment intensity are adjusted to the area and your skin.

CLINICCARE products

Selected for your skin

We combine microneedling with CLINICCARE mesotherapy solutions and targeted skincare from the Refresh, Glow and Pure ranges. Each has a specific role, and your products are selected according to your skin type and concerns.

Refresh: hydration and skin rejuvenation.
Glow: radiance and uneven skin tone.
Pure: soothing care for blemish-prone skin, including a suitable post-treatment mask.

What can it help with?

We match the treatment to your concern and assess whether the skin is ready for needling.

Skin quality

Fine lines and uneven texture

Collagen remodelling may soften fine lines and improve the feel and appearance of uneven skin. It does not replace treatment for deeper folds or volume loss.

Scarring

Selected acne scars

May improve the appearance of some depressed acne scars. Deep or tethered scars can need a combined approach. We avoid needling through active, inflamed acne.

Radiance

Dullness and uneven tone

A personalised plan may improve radiance and selected uneven tone. Pigmentation needs assessment first, particularly melasma, where irritation can worsen discolouration.

Scalp

Hair thinning

Scalp microneedling with CLINICCARE Hair Energy can be considered as part of a broader hair-thinning plan. The cause of hair loss needs assessment before treatment.

Your CLINICCARE treatment options

Refresh, Glow and Pure each have an individual role. We select the appropriate products for your skin type and concern; Hair Energy is used for scalp treatment.

Refresh

Hydration and skin quality

CLINICCARE EGF Refresh is a sterile microneedling solution containing hydrating ingredients, including hyaluronic acid. It is selected to support hydration and a smoother-looking complexion.

Glow

Uneven tone and radiance

CLINICCARE EGF Glow is a sterile microneedling solution containing ingredients such as arbutin and hyaluronic acid, intended to support more even-looking, hydrated skin.

Pure

Soothing post-treatment care

CLINICCARE Pure provides soothing care for blemish-prone skin. A suitable Pure mask may be selected after microneedling to support comfort and hydration.

Hair Energy

Scalp microneedling

CLINICCARE Hair Energy is a professional solution designed for scalp vitality and hair quality. It is applied with microneedling; it is not injected. Outcomes depend on the cause of thinning and individual response.

Sessions and results

Improvements develop gradually as the skin or scalp responds.

Skin course

How many sessions?

A series is often recommended. Selected acne scars may need around 3-5 treatments, while skin-quality plans vary. We agree the spacing after assessment and allow the skin to heal between visits.

Skin results

When will I see a difference?

A fresher appearance may become noticeable once early redness settles. Texture and collagen-related changes develop over weeks and months, often becoming clearer through a course.

Scalp course

A separate hair plan

There is no single scalp course suitable for every type of hair loss. We agree a plan after assessment and monitor progress with photographs where useful.

Scalp results

Allow time for the hair cycle

Hair changes are assessed over months rather than days. Hair Energy is an adjunct to a plan and cannot guarantee regrowth. Blood tests or a GP consultation may be advised at additional cost.

Treatment and downtime

We explain preparation, comfort and aftercare before you decide to proceed.

Before

Assessment and preparation

Tell us about medication, allergies, cold sores, recent treatments and skin conditions. Active infection, inflamed acne or irritated skin may require postponement. We explain which skincare products to pause.

During

What does it feel like?

The skin is cleaned and numbing may be used where appropriate. You may feel vibration, prickling or warmth. The clinician or therapist adjusts the treatment to the area and your comfort.

Downtime

Redness and sensitivity

Redness, warmth, tightness and mild swelling are common. Redness and sensitivity usually settle within a few hours to a day, although deeper treatment or individual skin responses may take longer. Mild dryness or flaking can follow.

Aftercare

Gentle care while healing

Follow your written advice on cleansing, moisturising, sun protection, makeup, exercise and active skincare. Scalp patients receive specific advice on washing and hair products. Contact us for increasing pain, spreading redness or an unexpected reaction.

Helpful answers

Microneedling FAQs

Is this Raffine or RF microneedling?

This page describes standard Raffine microneedling, which uses fine needles without radiofrequency energy. RF microneedling is a separate treatment that also delivers heat beneath the skin.

Is mesotherapy included?

We combine microneedling with appropriate CLINICCARE products. Refresh and Glow are selected according to the concern; Pure may be used as a soothing mask. We explain the products included in your plan before treatment.

Are the solutions injected?

In this treatment they are used alongside microneedling, according to the product protocol. Hair Energy is specifically intended for microneedling or a dermaroller and is not injected.

Can it treat active acne?

We do not needle through active, inflamed acne or infection. Acne control may come first, followed by treatment for remaining scars or texture.

How much downtime is there?

Redness and sensitivity usually settle within a few hours to a day. Treatment depth, area and individual skin response can affect healing. We give an individual estimate and advice on returning to makeup and usual activities.

Does it hurt?

You may feel prickling or vibration. Numbing can be used where appropriate, and comfort varies between facial and scalp areas. Tell us if you are uncomfortable so we can pause.

Is it suitable for darker skin tones?

Microneedling can be considered for many skin tones. Pigment changes are still possible, so we assess your history, choose suitable intensity and discuss sun protection.

Can I have scalp microneedling for hair loss?

Possibly, after assessment. We use Hair Energy with scalp microneedling as part of a tailored plan. Sudden shedding, bald patches, scalp inflammation or suspected scarring hair loss need medical assessment.

Will I need blood tests for hair thinning?

Sometimes. A GP consultation or blood tests may help identify contributing factors and are charged separately. We explain any recommended investigations and costs first.

What are the risks?

Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness and dryness are common. Less common problems include infection, cold sore reactivation, pigment change, allergy or scarring. We review relevant history and product sensitivities before treatment.

How long will results last?

Results vary with the concern, skin condition and ongoing ageing. Maintenance may be discussed after reviewing the course rather than committing you to a fixed schedule.
