Dye-VL is a narrow-band pulsed-light applicator on the Harmony platform. It targets colour in selected superficial vessels and pigmented areas; it is a light treatment, not a laser.
For redness, it can help reduce the appearance of visible vessels and diffuse colour. For pigmentation, the cause must be diagnosed first. Rosacea may improve in appearance but can still require ongoing skin care or medical management.
After a skin assessment and eye protection, the handpiece delivers pulses across the selected area. You may feel warmth or a sharp flick. A test patch may be advised.
Personalised assessment: We review your medical history, skin, treatment area and any reasons to defer treatment.
01 / Concerns
We select it according to the colour, depth and cause of the concern.
May reduce visible redness in suitable patients, including some rosacea-related colour.
Explore redness →Visible surface vessels on the cheeks or nose can be assessed for light treatment.
Some benign superficial pigment can be targeted, but diagnosis comes first and not all pigmentation is appropriate.
Explore pigmentation →We assess whether the lesion is suitable for Dye-VL, another laser or medical review.
02 / Your plan
Diffuse redness, isolated vessels and pigment do not all respond in the same way.
A course is often needed for diffuse redness. Isolated spots may respond differently. We review each area and space sessions appropriately.
Some causes, including rosacea, can recur. Skin care, trigger management and occasional further treatment may be discussed.
03 / Treatment & downtime
Light-based treatment requires eye protection and appropriate sun avoidance.
Expect bright flashes and brief warmth or snapping. Cooling may be used for comfort.
Redness and swelling can occur. Pigmented spots may darken before fading; small vessels may look more noticeable initially.
Recent tanning, photosensitising medicines and skin type affect suitability. A test patch may be recommended.
Use the advised gentle care and sun protection. Avoid picking any darkened spots or crusts.
Helpful answers
No. Dye-VL is a targeted pulsed-light treatment. Its light is selected to address certain superficial vessels and areas of pigment; a laser may be better for a different vessel or skin concern.
It may reduce the appearance of persistent redness and some visible vessels. Rosacea can flare again, so skin care, trigger management or medical treatment may still be needed.
Diffuse redness often needs a course of around three to five sessions, spaced several weeks apart. An isolated vessel or spot may follow a different plan. We reassess before each treatment.
A treated vessel may change appearance soon after treatment, while overall redness is usually judged over the following weeks and across a course. Pigmented spots can darken first, then gradually fade.
Many people continue normal activities the same day. Redness or warmth may settle within 24-48 hours; swelling can last a few days. Bruising or darkening of a treated spot can remain visible longer.
You will see bright flashes through protective eyewear and may feel a warm snap against the skin. Cooling can help with comfort. Tell us if the sensation is unexpectedly painful.
Light-based treatment can carry a higher risk of unwanted pigment change in darker or recently tanned skin. We assess the skin, may recommend a test patch, another device or delaying treatment until a recent tan has faded.
Melasma may worsen after light treatment and needs an individual pigmentation plan. A new or changing mark requires medical assessment rather than a cosmetic light treatment.
Use gentle products and sun protection as advised. Avoid picking darkened spots, and follow the clinic's instructions about heat, exercise and active skincare while the area settles.
